Pringle Earns Three Points as Roos Battle Amcats

Auburn, MA – Sophomore Evan Pringle scored a goal and added two assists for the SUNY Canton men's hockey team on Saturday night, but the Roos dropped a 5-3 decision on the road to Anna Maria College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior Brendan Morrow opened the scoring for the Roos, banging home a rebound and scoring a power play goal at 2:05 of the first.  Pringle and sophomore Scott Cremen assisted on the play.
  • Pringle gave Canton a 2-0 lead, taking a feed from senior Nic Herringer and beating Cole Johnston high at 8:54 of the first period. Morrow's faceoff win earned him the secondary assist.
  • The Amcats cut the lead to 2-1 on a Samson Mouland goal at 5:27 of the second period.
  • Cam Tobey tied the game 2-2 at 18:35 of the second, and put his team ahead 3-2 at 5:53 of the third.
  • Another Amcat goal off the stick of Max Wennerberg gave the team a 4-2 lead.
  • Herringer tipped home a Pringle shot from the point to get the Roos within one at 12:01 of the third.  Senior Trevor Christopher also assisted on the play.
  • Mouland would pot an empty netter with less than 20 seconds to go in the third to make the final 5-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • With his goal and two assists, Pringle leads the Roos with 15 assists and 23 points.  Morrow's goal and assist earns him 21 points on the season.
  • The Roos were 1/4 on the powerplay, the Amcats were 0/6.
  • Canton had an edge in faceoffs 48-40 with Morrow winning 18 to lead the team.
  • Sophomore Kelson Hooper made 33 saves for the Roos and his counterpart Johnston made 39 for Anna Maria College.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos host SUNY Morrisville on Friday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m.  The team will honor their seniors in their final contest of the season.
