Four Roos Score 14 in Season-Opening Win Against Gators

Canton, NY – Kat McRobbie-Taru, Torie Moore, Hope Aniceto and Sierra Pabo all scored 14 points each to lead the SUNY Canton women's basketball team to a 72-61 win against visiting Russell Sage in both team's season openers on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos jumped out to early leads of 6-0 and 10-2 as they held a 17-7 lead after the opening quarter.
  • Canton led by as many as 11 (21-10) in the second quarter before Sage used an 11-4 run to get within 25-21. The hosts closed the final 4:33 of the first half on a 10-2 run to take a 35-23 lead into intermission.
  • The Roos lead ballooned to as many as 20 in the third quarter as Canton took 56-37 lead to the fourth quarter.
  • Canton extended its lead to 24 in the fourth frame before the Gators made a late run for the 72-61 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Moore posted 14 points and eight rebounds shooting 4-for-5 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line, while McRobbie-Taru tallied 14 points and nine boards on 6-for-13 shooting. Pabo posted 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Aniceto finished with 14 points hitting three three-pointers.
  • Malena Gereau paced the Gators with 12 points, while Olivia Huneau added 11 points.
  • Canton held the upper hand in rebounds (53-37) and second chance points (13-6).
