Jevonte Williams all scored in double figures as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team hung tough dropping a 95-62 exhibition game at NCAA Division I Colgate University on Tuesday at Cotterell Court.
This is the fourth ever D-I exhibition for the Roos as they also squared off with Cornell University (11/8/18), the University at Buffalo (12/21/22) and Le Moyne College (11/13/23).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos won the opening tip and Streb knocked down the first jumper of the game to give Canton an early 2-0 lead. The Raiders opened a 13-6 advantage before the Roos got within 13-11 after a Streb three ball, as he scored seven of the team's first 11 points.
- Canton used a 5-0 run and tied the game at 18 apiece after a Williams trey just over seven minutes into the game. Â Colgate responded with an 8-0 run to open a 26-18 lead. The Roos drew within six (30-24), but the Raiders closed the final 6:43 of the half on an 18-8 run to take a 48-32 lead into intermission.
- Streb led the Roos with 11 first-half points, while Larson had eight. The duo combined to shoot 8-for-13 from the field in the opening 20 minutes. Jeff Woodward (13) and Nicolas Louis-Jacques (12) combined for 25 points in the opening half for Colgate shooting a combined 11-for-14 from the field.
- Colgate shot nearly 53% from the field in the first half, while Canton hit on over 42% of their field goals.
- The Roos got within 15 early in the second stanza after a Williams three, but Louis-Jacques quickly responded with a three and that was as close as Canton would get the rest of the way.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Larson led the Roos with 16 points and seven rebounds shooting 7-for-12 from the field, while Streb tallied 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Williams chipped in 12 points hitting a pair of threes and free throws. Moe Biao registered eight points hitting all six of his free throw attempts, while My'Kell Kaigler added five points.
- Overall eight players scored for the Roos as Kevin Goode Jr., MJ Massey and Chris Nastasi had two points each. Eighteen different Canton players saw action on Tuesday evening.
- Louis-Jacques paced the Raiders with 21 points hitting seven of his 10 field goal attempts. Woodward nearly recorded a double with 17 points and nine rebounds shooting a perfect 8-for-8 form the field. Brady Cummins also reached double figures with 11 points.
- Colgate shot 52 % from the field and 33% from three-point range for the game, while Canton had marks of 39% and 36%, respectively.
- The 62 points by the Roos on Tuesday tie the most ever scored by the team against a Division I opponent. They also scored 62 in a 129-62 loss at the University at Buffalo (12/21/22).
Note: This game is an exhibition for SUNY Canton and therefore statistics do not count towards season stat totals, whereas this is a regular season game for Colgate and their stats count.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The men's basketball team opens the regular season this weekend at the Bill Sudeck Tournament hosted by Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, OH. The Roos open against SUNY Brockport on Friday at 5 p.m., while CWRU hosts Penn State Altoona in the second game at 7 p.m. The winners play on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the championship game with the losers squaring off in the consolation game at 12 p.m.
