Sarah Balcom combined for 24 kills and 12 digs to lead the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team in a 3-1 SUNYAC loss (14-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-27) to visiting Fredonia State on Senior Day on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the opening set and scored seven of the final eight points to claim a 25-14 first set victory.
- Canton opened an 8-6 lead in the second stanza following back-to-back kills from Coulter and Balcom. The Roos would extend their lead to as many as five on multiple occasions en route to a 25-21 second set win.
- Play was extremely tight in the third set until Fredonia used six straight points to turn a one-point edge into an 18-11 lead. Canton got within 22-18 but three straight kills including a pair from Kylie O'Brien sealed a 25-18 third set win for the visitors.
- The Roos stormed out to an early 8-3 lead in the fourth frame and led 14-7 midway through the set following an Marshall kill. Canton led 22-19 before Fredonia scored eight of the final 11 points to win the set and match, 27-25.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Coulter led the Roos with 14 kills and just one error hitting .419 (14-1-31) with six digs. Balcom tallied 10 kills, six digs and two blocks. Marshall and Frank posted five kills each with Marshall adding five blocks and four digs and Frank dishing out 25 assists to go with 10 digs and three blocks. Towles tied a match-high with 12 digs.
- O'Brien paced Fredonia with 20 kills, six aces and five digs, while Erin Callahan added nine kills.
- The Blue Devils hit .244 as a team with 54 kills (54-21-135), while the Roos posted a .167 hitting % with 37 kills (37-17-120). Fredonia also had a big advantage from the service line with 17 aces compared to three for Canton.
