Canton, NY – On an afternoon that saw her great-aunt, Jill Martin, honored, sophomore
Jordan Caroccio scored a first period goal for the SUNY Canton women's hockey team, but the team lost a 2-1 overtime decision to SUNY Morrisville on Saturday.
Martin, wife of legendary men's coach Terry Martin, dropped the ceremonial puck prior to the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Caroccio scored her goal at 7:58 of the first period, taking a feed from freshman Bailey Cote and snapping a shot past Mustang goaltender J'Anne Colbow. Â Sophomore Riley Andzel earned the secondary assist.
- Zoe Leas tied the game at 11:56 of the first, sending a wrist shot through a screen and into the net for a power play goal. Kendal Kalinowski and Kate Mabey each were credited with assists.
- After a scoreless second and third period, both teams headed to overtime. In the extra session, a scrum formed in the Roos defensive end before the puck ended up on the stick of Hailee Easson who side-stepped a Roo defender and put a shot just over the blocker of sophomore Abby Seaman to win the game for the Mustangs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Roos had an edge in shots on goal (32-23) and faceoffs (31-23). Andzel and sophomore Kylah Small led the team with six shots on goal and sophomore Isbella had a team-high 11 face off wins.
- Canton was 0/1 on the power play while Morrisville was 1/2 on the extra man.
- Seaman finished the night with 21 saves, Colbow had 31 stops for the Mustangs.
