Canton, NY – Four different players had eight or more kills behind a match-best 33 assists from
Sammie Frank as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team played a hard fought five set match before ultimately falling 3-2 (25-11, 20-25, 17-25, 25-16, 15-6) to visiting Oswego State in SUNYAC action on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers jumped out to an early 11-4 lead in the opening set capped by a Priscilla McReynolds kill. Oswego continued to control the set scoring eight of the next 11 points to hold a 19-7 advantage before ultimately closing out the first 25-11.
- The second set would prove to be a much closer affair with both teams battling back-and-forth as the Roos tied it at seven with a kill by Sarah Balcom. Three straight points had the Roos on top 10-7 following a Marshall kill. Canton would extend their lead to 18-13 after a Frank kill. The Lakers responded tallying six of the next seven points to knot things at 19 apiece. The Roos dominated down the stretch ending the set on a 6-1 run that included a pair of kills from Marshall and a kill and ace from Balcom to take the frame 25-20.
- Canton jumped out to a 17-10 lead in the third stanza following a Frank kill. The Roos extended their lead to a commanding 22-13 and would close out the third 25-17.
- The teams were knotted at eight apiece early in the fourth frame and Canton owned a slim 13-12 advantage following a Marshall kill. The Lakers rattled off eight straight points to take control of the set up 21-12 on their way to taking the set 25-16.
- The Lakers jumped out to an early 9-3 lead in the decisive fifth set and secured the match 15-6 following a Cara Simplicio service ace.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Marshall led the Roos with 10 kills and six blocks, while Emerson Coulter totaled nine kills, 14 digs and four assists. Bria Hunter and Balcom floored eight kills apiece combining for three blocks, while Brooke Hite chipped in five kills and five digs.
- Frank tied a match-high with 33 assists adding seven digs, three kills, two aces and two blocks. Sarah Towles paced Canton defensively with a match-best 19 digs.
- McReynolds led the Lakers with 17 kills and 18 digs, while Kalley Vugteveen totaled 13 kills and Mya Bush dished out 33 assists.
- The Lakers hit .224 on 156 attempts (59-24-156), while the Roos swung at a .151 clip on 159 swings (44-20-159). Oswego had the advantage in assists (54-42) and digs (82-62), while Canton was strong at the net out blocking the Lakers 7-4.

The Roos are back in action on Saturday when they take part in the Rowan Tournament squaring off with Misericordia at 1 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. match with host Rowan. Â
