Marshall & Coulter Carry Attack at Cortland

Cortland, NY – Alexas Marshall and Emerson Coulter recorded four kills, each but the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 SUNYAC match at SUNY Cortland on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SUNY Canton scored the opening point of the match but from there the Red Dragons ran of 11 consecutive points to take a commanding lead on their way to a 25-7 win in the first set.
  • Cortland jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the second stanza en route to a 25-12 victory.
  • The hosts used an early 13-4 advantage to close out the match in straight sets, 25-11.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Marshall and Coulter supplied four kills each with Coulter adding a match-best 10 digs. Sammie Frank added nine assists and six digs, while Marshall and Bria Hunter finished with two blocks apiece.
  • Anna Pilkey paced the Red Dragons with 12 kills, while Alexa Guedez added eight.
  • Cortland recorded a remarkable .402 hitting percentage on 87 swings (42-7-87), while the Roos finished with 12 kills and 12 errors in 72 attacks. The Red Dragons also had a big advantage at the service line recording 13 aces.

The Roos are back in SUNYAC action on Tuesday when they host Oswego State at 6 p.m.
