Alexas Marshall combined for 15 kills in front of a boisterous crowd at the Roos House, as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team scored a big conference win over SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday evening.
The Roos swept the Cardinals 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-22) in three close sets to earn their first SUNYAC victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After early back-and-forth play in the first set, the Cardinals took a two-point lead. The Roos then scored three straight, capped by a Sammie Frank kill to hold an 11-10 advantage. They would not trail again, scoring five straight later in the set on a Sarah Balcom kill to lead 20-14. A Plattsburgh kill stopped the run but was followed by another five-point Roo swing to put Canton up 25-15 and close out the set.
- The second set would prove to be much tighter with the Cardinals leading 7-5 early. The Roos responded, scoring six straight, including two aces by senior Sarah Towles and two Balcom kills. Plattsburgh would score six of the next seven to take a 13-12 lead. The set would remain close and the Cardinals were within two points of closing things out before the Roos scored the final three points, including the set winner by Hunter to win 25-23.
- The third set would be another back-and-forth affair with a Marshall kill knotting the game at 18 all. Four straight points put the Cardinals ahead 22-21 before the Roos scored four of their own , including two Hunter kills to win the set 25-22.
INSIDE THE NUMBERSÂ
- Hunter's eight kills were tied for the game-high. She also recorded five digs and three aces.  Marshall followed with seven kills on the night.
- Junior Brooke Hite notched six kills and three digs while Balcom stuffed the stat sheet with five kills, three aces, three blocks and five digs.
- Frank had game-highs in assists (23) and aces (4).

The Roos host another SUNYAC match against North Country rival SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, October 18
th at 1:00 p.m.
