Canton, NY – Head Coach
Wilson Matos and the SUNY Canton baseball team have announced their 2024 schedule, which marks the team's fifth season in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).
The Roos schedule currently features 39 total contests with 10 home games and 15 conference contests. SUNY Canton will play a pair of doubleheaders plus a single game (5 total) against each of the other three schools in the NAC West. The team opens the season on February 24th when it travels south to the nation's capital for the Bison Baseball Classic where it will play Wells College in a doubleheader on Saturday (2/24) followed by a single game against Albright the following afternoon.
After a three-game set (3/4-5) at SUNY Oneonta, the Roos will head south once again, this time to sunny Florida, to play seven games in the Russ Matt Tournament during their spring break trip (3/10-16).
The team returns to New York for road doubleheaders at Hamilton (3/22) and against Oswego State (3/23). The Roos then square off with Utica in a doubleheader on March 27th. Canton kicks off April with NAC play with three games at SUNY Cobleskill (4/5-6) before hosting the Fighting Tigers for a doubleheader the following Friday (4/12).
Following a midweek non-league game at Clarkson (4/17) Canton welcomes SUNY Poly for a three-game weekend series (4/19-20) before traveling to face the Wildcats in a doubleheader the following Tuesday (4/23).
The Roos welcome NAC newcomer Eastern Nazarene for three games (4/26-27) before hosting Plattsburgh State for a doubleheader that Sunday (4/28) for their final home games of the season. Canton visits the Cardinals for one game that Tuesday (4/30) and will travel crosstown for a single game at St. Lawrence to kick off May (5/1) before closing the regular season with a doubleheader at Eastern Nazarene on May 5th.
The NAC Championship tournament is scheduled for Thursday (5/9) through Saturday (5/11). It will be hosted by the top seed in the NAC West with the top two seeds from each division (West/East) qualifying for the tournament. The Roos made back-to-back trips to the NAC Tournament in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
