Ewing & Franco Pot First Goals at Canton, Roos Beat Brockport 4-3

Brockport, NY – Sophomore Taylor Ewing and freshman Adrian Franco each scored their first career goals with the Roos, helping the SUNY Canton men's hockey team to a 4-3 victory over SUNY Brockport on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Freshman Nico Schoner opened the scoring at 5:46 of the first period, burying his 10th goal of the season with assists to junior Brendan Morrow and freshman Jackson Drysdale.
  • Brockport's Jack Powers evened the game at one midway through the first.
  • Midway through the second period Andrew Harley put the Eagles up 2-1, scoring an unassisted goal.
  • Ewing tied the game 2-2 at 13:55 of the second.  Freshmen Jordan Prepszl and Conor O'Brien each earned assists.
  • Franco gave the Roos the 3-2, netting a goal off passes from Jack Seamans and Gino DeBlasiis at 5:10 of the third.
  • Brockport tied the game again just over five minutes later when Josh Grund found the back of the net.
  • Sophomore Scott Cremen scored what would be the game-winner at 14:33 of the period with Drysdale and Morrow earning their second assists of the evening.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Schoner's 10 goals extend his lead as the team's leading goal scorer.  Three Roos are tied with four goals each.
  • Morrow's two assists tie him for the team lead with sophomore Evan Pringle, nine for each on the season.  Morrow and Pringle are tied for second in points with 13 each.
  • Brockport was 0/2 on the power play, Canton was not awarded a power play during the game.
  • Brockport had an edge at the face off circle, winning 40 draws to the Roos 30.
  • Freshman Trey Miller recorded 40 saves in the game and earned his second win of the season.  Dylan Wiemer took the loss for Brockport and finished with 30 stops.
