Streb Nets Career-High 26 Points in Road Win at Delhi

Delhi, NY – Freshman Bryon Streb netted a career-high 26 points and Eli Larson added 23 points to lead the SUNY Canton men's basketball team to an 85-81 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road win at SUNY Delhi on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Canton jumped out to an early 11 point lead (16-5) just under seven minutes into the game following a Jevonte Williams layup.
  • The Broncos responded with an 11-0 run to knot things up at 16 apiece. The teams would battle back-and-forth with the Roos lead ballooning to six on multiple occasions. Canton led 34-30 at intermission.
  • Larson paced Canton with 10 points in the first half, while Streb tallied eight points hitting both of his threes and all three of his shot attempts. Marven Louissaint led all scorers with 11 first-half points for the hosts.
  • The Roos led by six on multiple occasions in the second half before a 7-0 run gave Delhi their first lead of the second half at 50-49 with 12 minutes to play. From there neither team led by more than four points the remainder of the way until Larson buried a three to give Canton a six point advantage (79-73) with 1:10 remaining.
  • The Broncos responded with a trey of their own, but Larson scored a bucket inside with 27 seconds to extend the lead to five.
  • Delhi scored a layup on their ensuing possession, but Kevin Goode Jr. and Streb knocked down four straight free throws to seal the win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Streb led all players with career-highs of 26 points and nine rebounds shooting 6-for-7 from the field, 2-for-2 from three-point range and a perfect 12-for-12 from the line. Larson tallied 23 points and eight rebounds, while Goode Jr. stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals. Brennan Harmer and Jevonte Williams also chipped in six points each.
  • Louissaint paced Delhi with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Lester McCarthy (16), Isiah Barnes (14) and Pablo Quinones (13) all scored in double figures.
  • Both teams shot the ball fairly evenly from the field and behind the arc, but the Roos had a big advantage at the foul line shooting nearly 80% (27-for-34), while Delhi was just 45% (9-for-20).
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The men's basketball team is back in NAC action on Saturday when they visit SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m.
