Larson Nets Career-High 25

Morrisville, NY – Junior Eli Larson recorded a career and game-high 25 points but the SUNY Canton men's basketball team dropped a 105-71 decision at North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West division leading SUNY Morrisville on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos led briefly early on at 5-3 and 7-5 and held a 14-13 advantage nearly seven minutes into the game.
  • Morrisville outscored Canton 41-13 the remainder of the half to take a commanding 54-26 lead into intermission.
  • Larson led all players with 18 points in the first half shooting 7-for-10 from the field. The rest of the Roos combined for eight points. Daimarr Miller paced the Mustangs with 15 points. Morrisville shot nearly 59 % from the field and 50% from three in the opening 20 minutes, while Canton had marks of 30% and 14%, respectively.
  • The Mustangs continued to control play in the second half extending their lead to as many as 36 en route to the win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Larson posted a career-high 25 points to go with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. Brennan Harmer was the only other player in double figures with 12 points and dished out a game-high six assists to go with two steals. Goode Jr. chipped in eight points and Bryon Streb and Zach Denesha had five each.
  • Nokio Kennedy (17), Miller (15), Kareem Sanders (13), TJ Oliver (11) and Jacob Works (10) all scored in double figures for Morrisville as seven players had nine or more points.
  • The Mustangs shot 55% from the field and 53% from three-point range for the game, while Canton finished with marks of 38% and 29%. Morrisville held the edge in bench points (53-17) and points in the paint (52-32).

The men's basketball team is back in NAC action next Friday when they visit SUNY Delhi at 5:30 p.m.
