Torales & Gavette Score Late as Men’s Soccer Earns 2-2 Draw at Delhi

Delhi, NY – Martin Torales and Michael Gavette scored back-to-back goals over the final 14 minutes to help the SUNY Canton men's soccer team earn a 2-2 draw at SUNY Delhi in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Delhi got the scoring started early in the fourth minute when Anthony Cuellar put home his third of the season. Just two minutes later Jaquan Williams found Michael Williams Jr. who beat the opposing keeper for the second time on the season. The Broncos led 2-0 after just six minutes of play.
  • The Broncos went into intermission leading 2-0 and owning a 10-6 shots and 5-2 corners advantage.
  • The Roos broke through in the 77th minute when Torales, a captain, converted on a penalty kick after a Delhi foul in the box. Just seven minutes later Brennan Harmer found Gavette for the equalizer.
  • Owen Kwong made one final save to help preserve the draw.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The game was extremely even as Canton held a slim 16-15 shots advantage while the Broncos owned a 9-8 shots on goal edge. Delhi controlled corner kicks, 7-2.
  • The goals by Torales and Gavette both marked their second of the season.
  • Kwong upped his season save total to 31 and now owns a 1.52 goals against average and 2-3-1 record on the season.
  • Kwong made seven saves, while Jonathan Walch turned aside six shots.
