HOW IT HAPPENED

Match 1 – BOX SCORE
  • SUNY Canton took an early 8-2 lead on a kill by junior Alexas Marshall.  An ace by Balcom extended the Roos lead to 15-5.  Both teams traded points down the stretch and a Balcom kill ended the set in Canton's favor 25-16.
  • In the second set, it was the Raptors with the early 10-2 advantage.  The Roos earned four of the next five points but this set was all Raptors who won 25-16.
  • Canton gained a 12-4 advantage in the third set on a kill by sophomore Sammie Frank.  A five-point Raptor run later in the set closed the gap to 16-13, but the Roos hung on to win 25-20.
  • The fourth set was all Bard.  After leading early 7-1 on a Adi David ace, the Raptors would go on a 7-0 run lead 14-2.  Bard would end up winning the set 25-7.
  • In the tie-breaker, Bard again took a commanding 11-3 lead.  A Clark kill would close the gap to 11-5 but the Raptors closed it out, winning the set 15-6 and the match 3-2.

Match 2 – BOX SCORE
  • The Saints broke out to a quick 7-1 lead in the first set before freshman Hannah Lombardi kill stopped the run.  Canton later closed the gap to get within three (11-8) on a Balcom kill.  St. Lawrence would allow the visitors to get no closer, edging out the Roos 25-20.
  • An early Saints lead was erased by back-to-back kills by Balcom and senior Cadin Taggart, putting the Roos on top 8-5.  Canton maintained their lead on an ace by senior Emily Dreyer kill making the score 12-8.  But St. Lawrence would continue to push and tie the game at 20 points each.  Five straight points, capped off by a Dreyer kill put the Roos over the top 25-20.
  • In the third set, the hosts scored five straight to lead 5-0.  Canton battled back to get within two, at 6-4, but a Saint run of seven points in nine pushed them ahead 13-6.  A Katrina Henrich ace put the Saints up 21-10 before a mini four-point-run, capped by a Taggart kill, closed the gap to 21-14.  St. Lawrence scored the final four points to win the set 25-14.
  • In the final set, both teams faced an even battle early on, with the Saints knotting the score at 5-5.  A quick 7-2 run put St. Lawrence on top 12-7.  Canton closed the gap to 15-12 but the Saints scored five straight to lead 20-12.  The Roos reeled off seven of the next nine points capped by a Balcom kill to narrow the lead to 22-19.  But the Saints scored the next three to win the set and match 25-19 and 3-1.
