Randall Scores in Setback v. Saints

Canton, NY – Sophomore Eric Randall scored his first goal of the season, but a pair of late goals lifted visiting St. Lawrence University to a 4-1 win v. the SUNY Canton men's soccer team in non-conference action.

THE BASICS
  • Result: St. Lawrence 4, SUNY Canton 1
  • Location: SUNY Canton Turf – Canton, NY
  • Records:  St. Lawrence (2-2-2) | SUNY Canton (2-5-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints got on the board first in the ninth minute when Michael McDougald cut back and played a cross to Henry Hart at the top of the 18. Hart stopped the pass and after a quick touch drilled a left-footed shot into the right corner for the early lead.
  • St. Lawrence doubled their lead in the 30th minute after the Roos were whistled for a foul in the box. Roos goalkeeper Jason Meneses guessed correctly and made a great diving effort to his left but was just unable to keep the ball from crossing the goal line as Max Mogul found the back of the net.
  • Canton got within one in the 35th minute when Chase Ross carried possession through the midfield finding Randall to his left. After a quick touch Randall ripped a gorgeous shot from 25 yards out just over the outstretched arms of George Charalambous and under the crossbar.
  • The Saints held a 5-1 shots on goal advantage taking a 2-1 lead into intermission.
  • The Roos had a great chance with 20 minutes left to tie things up on tight traffic in the box, but Michael Gavette's chip of the ball went just wide with the charging Saints keeper coming forward.
  • Canton was whistled for its second penalty of the night in the 72nd minute and Mogul buried his second of the night into the lower left corner.
  • Three minutes later the Saints made it 4-1 as Eric Edmonds collected a loose ball in the box beating Meneses as the ball redirected at the last second off a defender and in.
  • Canton had another late chance in the final 30 seconds as Dylan Vanderpool's shot went just wide left for the 4-0 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
