Dayter, Montgomery & Nappi Score Four Each in Senior Day Win v. Thomas

Canton, NY – Samantha Dayter posted a game-high eight points and Dayter, Morgan Montgomery and Caroline Nappi all scored four goals each as the Roos built a 12-goal lead after three quarters en route to a 19-11 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win v. Thomas on Saturday on Senior Day.
 
SUNY Canton honored its five seniors Erin Grandaw, Emily Vogt, Dayter, Casey Pelton and Olivia Scott in a postgame ceremony inside Roos House.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Thomas held a brief lead early on scoring just over four minutes into the game. From there it was all Roos as they scored the next seven goals that included two each from Maddy Caron and Montgomery. Canton led 7-1 after Caron's second of the game and 46th of the season with 12:42 left in the second quarter.
  • The Terriers caged back-to-back goals to get within four, but the hosts responded with four straight, two from the stick of Nappi, to open an 11-3 advantage with 3:06 left in the half. Thomas scored once with 22 seconds left before the half to trim the deficit to 11-4 at intermission.
  • Canton dominated play in the third quarter outscoring Thomas 6-1 to put the game away at 17-5 after three quarters on their way to the 19-11 victory.
 
 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
  • Dayter led all players with eight points on four goals and four assists and added seven draw controls. Montgomery and Nappi supplied four goals each and Lindsey Wunder added two goals and two assists to go with three draw controls. Caron finished with three goals and picked up a game-high eight draw controls. Michaela Conti and Ava Reynolds also scored with Conti's goal the first of the season for the junior. Emily Vogt caused a team-high three turnovers.
  • Caron's goal with two minutes left in the first quarter was the 100th score of her career. With her goal with 3:06 left in the third quarter Dayter recorded her eighth point of the game and 100th of the season. She continues to add to her program record for career points as she currently has 259.
  • Lauren Bartlett and Mary LaRochelle led Thomas with three goals and an assist each, while Aubrey Schaeffer caused a game-high five turnovers.
  • Scott made five saves allowing five goals over the first three quarters for the Roos in the win, while Erin Anderson played the final quarter in relief.
  • Lizzy Gotay turned aside nine shots in defeat for the visitors.
  • The Roos held the upper hand in shots on goal (28-16), draw controls (22-12) and ground balls (19-18).
 
WHAT'S NEXT? 
The Roos close out their regular season on Sunday when they host Maine Farmington at 12 p.m.
