Utica, NY – Austin Mesler tied game-highs with seven points and four goals, but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road game at SUNY Poly 18-9 on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SUNY Poly controlled play in the opening quarter outscoring the Roos 5-0 after 15 minutes.
- The Wildcats continued to keep their foot on the gas pedal holding a commanding 11-1 lead at intermission.
- Things were much more even in the third quarter with the Wildcats holding a slim 3-2 scoring edge. The Roos outscored Poly 6-4 in the fourth quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Mesler led the Roos with seven points on four goals and three assists to go with four ground balls. Alex Jacobs, Logan McCargar, Michael Newcomb, Caeden Goodnough and Tanner Amell scored once each with Devin Guerriero picking up an assist. Tyler Scott caused three turnovers, while Rilee St. Croix forced two.
- Andrew Maycock led the Wildcats with four goals and three assists, while Lyle Beeman and Luke Taylor scored three times each.
- Joseph VanZandt made six saves allowing three goals over the first three quarters in the win for Poly.
- Hayden Todd turned aside 14 shots in the first 46:38, while Sam Servati stopped one shot over the final 13 plus minutes.
- SUNY Poly controlled shots on goal (33-16) and ground balls (44-31), while Canton won the face off battle by one (15-14).
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are back in action on Saturday when they host Thomas College at 1 p.m. The team will celebrate Senior Day.
