Castine, ME – Samantha Dayter broke her own single-game points record tallying 15 points and
Maddy Thompson tied the single-game program record for caused turnovers as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team earned a key 21-13 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road win at Maine Maritime Academy.
With the victory the Roos vault into first place in the NAC standings and control their own destiny for the one seed and hosting rights of the NAC championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead behind goals from Pelton and Morgan Montgomery. The Mariners responded with the next four goals to take a 4-2 lead after the opening quarter.
- The second stanza proved to be the game changer as the Roos dominated play outscoring MMA 8-1. Casey Pelton scored four times in the quarter, while Dayter had three scores and Maddy Caron had the other tally. Canton led 10-5 at intermission.
- The Mariners never got closer than five goals the rest of the way as the Roos cruised to victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dayter led all players with 15 points on 10 goals and five assists, eclipsing her own single-game points (14) and assists (8) records she set last season in a 19-4 win v. Maine Maritime (4/10/22). She also tied a game-best with nine draw controls. Pelton's six goals on Sunday doubled her previous career-high of three which she set on multiple occasions including in a 22-6 win against the Mariners in last season's NAC championship game (5/1/22).
- Caron had a big game for the Roos tallying six goals, an assist and tying a game-high with nine draw controls. Morgan Montgomery chipped in a goal and two assists. Maddy Thompson was a force defensively finishing with game-highs of seven caused turnovers and six ground balls. Her seven caused turnovers tie SUNY Canton's single-game program record. Molly Denny finished with seven twice (4/20/19 v. Medaille, 4/23/19 v. Utica) and Robyn Caroll posted seven once (4/4/15 v. Keuka).
- Rebecca Caron led the Mariners with four goals, while Beth Labbe had three goals and an assist.
- Olivia Scott made 15 saves in the win, while Kelsey Melton stopped five shots in defeat.

The Roos are back in action on Wednesday when they visit SUNY Potsdam in non-conference action at 7 p.m.
