Hayden Todd made 14 saves, but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome an early deficit in a 19-5Â non-conference loss against SUNY Morrisville on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos jumped out to an early 1-0 lead less than three minutes in when Austin Mesler found Alex Jacobs who potted his second goal of the season.
- From there the Mustangs would run off 11 consecutive goals. The visitors led 8-1 after the opening quarter and extended the lead to 11-1 with just less than seven minutes remaining in the second quarter.
- Tanner Amell broke up the scoring streak on his first goal of the season. Morrisville would add another tally with 2:14 left in the half as they led 12-2 at intermission.
- The Mustangs outscored Canton 7-3 in the second half with Mesler scoring twice and Charles Grandaw once. Caeden Goodnough also picked up an assist on Mesler's second goal of the season. The goal was the first career tally for Grandaw.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Mesler led the Roos with two goals and assist and added four ground balls. Logan McCargar chipped in six ground balls.
- Evan Kistner and Dean Mohammed paced the Mustangs with five points each, while Luke Strong and Daniel Squires scored four and three goals, respectively.
- Sam Servati made one save allowing eight goals in the loss, while Todd turned aside 14 shots surrendering 11 goals in relief. He also picked up a team-high seven ground balls.
- Dylan LaPlace made nine saves over the first three quarters to earn the win for Morrisville, while Nathan Weise made four saves in the fourth quarter.
- Morrisville controlled shots on goal (34-17), faceoffs (17-17) and ground balls (55-44). The Mustangs were 22-for-30 on clear attempts, while Canton was just 9-for-31.
