Austin Mesler recorded three points, but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team fell 12-4 on the road at Castleton on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Castleton jumped out to a 2-0 lead four minutes into the game before Mesler got the Roos on the board with 9:59 left in the opening quarter. The Spartans scored twice more to take a 4-1 lead after 15 minutes.
- Alex Jacobs scored the lone goal of the second stanza in a low scoring period as Canton got within two at intermission.
- The teams exchanged tallies to start the third quarter with Jacobs striking again for the Roos. However, the hosts scored the next three goals, including a pair from Xavier McKenna to lead 8-3 after three.
- Logan McCargar got things within four goals less than a minute into the fourth quarter, but Castleton held the Roos scoreless the final 14 minutes of the game while scoring four more goals for the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Mesler led the Roos with three points on a goal and two assists, while Jacobs scored twice and McCargar netted one. Noel Abreu went 11-for-19 on faceoffs and picked up a game-high seven ground balls. Jake Erskine recorded six ground balls for Canton.
- McKenna paced Castleton with three goals, while Casey Meczywor and Ian Edgar had two each.
- Christopher Dindino made nine saves in the win for the hosts, while Servati turned aside 18 shots in defeat.
- Castleton controlled shots on goal 30-13 and held a 34-31 ground balls edge. Canton had the upper hand in faceoffs (11-8). The Roos went 15-for-22 on clears, while Castleton was 13-for-16. Canton turned the ball over 27 times compared to 17 for the hosts.
