Dayter & Caron Combine for 15 Points in 11-10 Win at Keuka

Keuka Park, NY – Samantha Dayter and Maddy Caron continued to provide an impressive 1-2 punch as the duo combined for 15 points in an 11-10 non-conference win at Keuka College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • After a morning trip to the Finger Lakes region the Roos came out firing offensively scoring the first three goals of the game over a six-minute stretch. Caron started the scoring before Dayter caged back-to-back goals.
  • Keuka would respond with a pair of goals in a 23 second span before Dayter netted her third of the first quarter as Canton led 4-2 after 15 minutes.
  • The Roos doubled up the Wolves 4-2 in the second quarter behind a pair of goals from Caron and one each from Dayter and Lindsey Wunder. Canton led 8-4 at intermission.
  • Keuka used a strong third quarter outscoring the visitors 4-1 to get things within 9-8 after 45 minutes of play. Ava Reynolds scored the lone Canton goal in the stanza.
  • The Roos scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter as Caron impressively netted a pair of woman-down goals to give Canton an 11-8 lead with 14 minutes to play.
  • Keuka scored woman-up 44 seconds later and got within one after a Julia Bauder goal with just under four minutes to play.
  • Casey Pelton forced a Keuka turnover with 2:27 to play and from there the Roos possessed the ball the remainder of the way to hang on for the win.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
  • Dayter led all players with nine points, five assists and 10 draw controls, while adding four goals. Caron supplied a game-high five goals to go with an assist and four draw controls. Wunder and Reynolds scored once each.
  • Bauder led the Wolves with four goals, while Sadie Bonetti had three goals and two assists. Madeline Greene chipped in two goals and an assist. Bauder picked up a game-high five ground balls and Greene added four draw controls.
  • Olivia Scott made 10 saves in her second win of the season for the Roos, while Alyssa Chase turned aside 14 shots in defeat.
  • The Roos held the advantage in shots on goal (25-20) and draw controls (16-8), while Keuka had the edge in ground balls (15-13). The Roos were 12-for-14 on clears and 1-for-3 on free-position shots, while the Wolves were 13-for-19 and 2-for-6, respectively.

SUNY Canton opens North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play next Saturday (4/1) when they visit SUNY Poly at 1 p.m.
