Dayter’s 10 Points Leads Roos Past Wildcats

Utica, NY – Samantha Dayter led the Roos with 10 points on six goals and four assists as the Roos earned a 21-8 win in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The Roos jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the opening quarter behind two goals each from Dayter and Morgan Montgomery.
  • Canton continued to control play in the second quarter outscoring the Wildcats 6-2 behind five different goal scorers in the quarter. The Roos led 12-4 at intermission.
  • The Roos outscored the Wildcats 9-4 in the second half for the 21-8 final.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS 
  • Dayter led all players in points (10), goals (6) and assists (4). Maddy Caron finished with five goals, an assist and game-highs of 14 draw controls and four caused turnovers. Caroline Nappi tallied two goals and two assists and Casey Pelton posted a goal and three assists. Lindsey Wunder supplied three goals and Montgomery and Scarlet Ditoro recorded two goals each.
  • Molly Burdick paced the Wildcats with six goals, while Kaitlin Kopca added two goals and an assist.
  • Olivia Scott made six saves in the win over the first three quarters, while Erin Anderson made one save in the final quarter in her season debut.
  • Jayden Brown stopped 10 shots for the Wildcats in the loss.
  • Canton held the upper hand in shots on goal (31-15), ground balls (31-16) and draw controls (21-10).
