Union, NJ – Maddy Caron and
Samantha Dayter combined for 11 goals as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team earned a 13-12 road win at Kean University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos jumped out to a 2-1 lead in a low scoring first quarter as Caron netted both of Canton's goals, including one with a player advantage.
- SUNY Canton held a 4-3 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take a 6-4 lead into intermission. Dayter scored twice in the stanza with Morgan Montgomery scoring with the player advantage and Caron recording her third of the game.
- Canton continued to keep its foot on the gas pedal in the third holding a 5-3 scoring advantage extending their lead to four (11-7) headed to the fourth quarter.
- Kean posted three of the first four goals of the final frame to get within 12-10 before a Dayter goal gave Canton a three-goal lead with 4:16 to play.
- The Cougars recorded back-to-back goals just 28 seconds apart to get within a goal with 49 seconds remaining.
- Caron came up with a huge draw control win and the Roos possessed the ball on the far sideline before Head Coach Adam Todd called time out with 19 seconds remaining. The Roos gave the ball to Caron as she eluded Cougar defenders and ran out the clock for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dayter led all players with seven points (five goals, two assists), while Caron posted game-highs of six goals and eight draw controls. Montgomery and Caroline Nappi had Canton's other two scores.
- Olivia Scott earned her first win of the season making seven saves and picking up seven ground balls.
- Nicole Peters took the loss for the Cougars making eight saves.
- Kylie Girodano paced Kean with four goals and an assist. Amanda Brzoska tallied three goals and an assist, while Zoe Sabosik posted two goals and two assists.
- The Roos held a slim 21-19 edge in shots on goal and dominated draw controls 18-11. Kean had the advantage in ground balls 23-13.

The Roos are back in action on Wednesday when they host Hartwick College at 4 p.m.
