Austin Mesler tied SUNY Canton's single-game assists record having a hand in nine of the team's 10 goals, but the Roos fell 17-10 to SUNY Delhi in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener on Saturday. Mesler recorded eight assists on Saturday which tied the single-game program mark set by
Hunter Olsen '22 last season at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (4/9/22).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Play was close early on as SUNY Delhi held a slim 3-2 lead after the opening quarter.
- With the final goal of the first quarter and first four of the second stanza the Broncos opened up a 7-2 lead just over five minutes into the second stanza.
- The Roos battled back scoring the next four goals of the game to get within 7-6 with just over five minutes to play in the half. The teams would exchange a pair of goals over the final three plus minutes as Delhi took a 9-8 lead into intermission.
- The Broncos used a 3-2 third quarter scoring edge to take a 12-10 lead into the final quarter.
- Delhi dominated play in the fourth as their defense shutout the Roos offense over the final 15 minutes while scoring five times to earn a 17-10 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Mesler led all players with nine points on a goal and eight assists. Alex Jacobs tied a game-high with four goals, while Charles Grandaw scored twice. Michael Newcomb and Caeden Goodnough supplied a goal and assist each.
- Sam Bieber led a balanced Delhi offense with four goals, while Brandon McGrath, Kyle Brogan and Nico Rivera all had three goals each.
- Samuel Steng made seven saves in the win for the Broncos.
- Hayden Todd recorded his first collegiate start making 26 saves (.604 save %). The 26 saves are tied for the second most by a Roos goalie in the D-III era. Teammate Sam Servati owns the single-game saves record when he made 28 last season in a loss to Morrisville (2/26/22). Dylan Dix also stopped 26 shots in a loss to Morrisville (3/24/14).
- The Broncos held the upper hand in shots on goal (43-17), ground balls (47-31) and faceoffs (18-13) on Saturday.
