Canton, NY – Sophomores Austin Mesler and Alex Jacobs each scored fourth quarter goals and Junior Sam Servati made 14 saves, but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team dropped their season opener 14-2 to Plattsburgh State.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Plattsburgh led 3-0 after the first quarter and expanded their lead to 8-0 at the half.
• The Cardinals tacked on another six goals in the third quarter, including two from leading scorer Robby Martin.
• The Roos defense held Plattsburgh scoreless in the fourth quarter and tacked on the goals from Mesler and Jacobs to make the final score 14-2.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Cardinals led in shots on goal (36-14), ground balls (43-35).  Senior Noel Abreu took all of the faceoffs for the Roos and was 10-7.
• Plattsburgh was 6/13 on the man-up while Canton was 0/7.
• Dan Clements finished with 10 saves and earned the win for Plattsburgh, Jack Mulcahy made two saves in seven-plus minutes of relief.
• Freshman Hayden Todd and senior Nick Snyder had four saves each splitting time in the fourth quarter.
