Culkin & Aniceto Sweep NAC Weekly Honors

Waterville, ME – Senior Joie Culkin and freshman Hope Aniceto have swept the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Monday. Culkin was named both the NAC Player and Defensive Player of the Week, while Aniceto took home Rookie of the Week honors.    

Culkin averaged 25.5 points, 18.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the Roos. She opened the week with 18 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks shooting 6-for-12 from the field and 3-for-6 from three in an 80-62 win v. Bryant & Stratton Albany on Friday. The senior followed that up with a career-high 33 points to go with 20 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal shooting 14-for-28 from the field in a 93-83 win v. NVU-Johnson on Senior Day. Culkin now has three consecutive double-doubles and six on the season.
 


Aniceto had a big week averaging 21.5 points, 4.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.5 block per game in a 2-0 week for the Roos. She opened the week with a game and career-high 28 points shooting 6-for-9 from the field, 5-for-8 from three and 11-for-12 from the line adding four assists, three steals, two rebounds and a block in an 80-62 win v. Bryant & Stratton Albany on Friday. The rookie closed out her week with 15 points, four assists and a rebound in a 93-83 win v. NVU-Johnson on Senior Day. With her 10 made threes on the weekend Aniceto now owns the Roos single-season (four-year) program record for made three-pointers (59).
 


These are the third and fourth NAC weekly awards for Culkin this season as she also earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on December 12th and January 9th. This marks the second consecutive week Aniceto was tabbed the conference's top rookie.
