Balanced Scoring Leads Roos Past Lions

Roos Shoot Over 56% in Win

Quincy, MA – Seven players recorded seven or more points to lead the SUNY Canton men's basketball team to an 84-69 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win at Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and never trailed in the contest. Canton opened a 10 point lead at 23-13 eight minutes into the game after an Eli Larson layup.
  • SUNY Canton took its largest lead of the first half at 11 (42-31) following a pair of Ian Florence-Washington free throws with 51 seconds remaining. The visitors took a 42-34 lead into intermission.
  • ENC trimmed the deficit to four (53-49) eight minutes into the second half, but the Roos quickly responded with a 9-0 run to expand their lead to 13 with 7:32 remaining in the contest.
  • The Canton lead would grow to as many as 18 (73-55) after a Streb old-fashioned three point play with 4:10 to play as the Roos cruised to victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Streb led all players with 18 points shooting 7-for-10 from the field nd 3-for-3 from the line. Larson supplied 16 points and six rebounds hitting six of his nine field goals and Goode Jr. added 15 points and five rebounds on 5-for-7 shooting.
  • Jevonte Williams totaled 12 points and tied a game-high with eight rebounds on 5-for-8 shooting. Brennan Harmer, Terrence Fields and Moe Biao chipped in seven points each, while Goode Jr., Harmer and Streb dished out four assists each.
  • Martinie Kamga (17), Khabri Davis (13), JT Rosier (10) and Darrell Hardge (10) all scored in double figures for ENC.
  • The Roos shot over 56% from the field and nearly 44% from three-point range while holding the Lions to marks of 41% and 16%, respectively.
  • Canton had the upper hand in rebounds (38-26), bench points (24-13) and points in the paint (44-34).
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The men's basketball team returns home next Friday when they host SUNY Cobleskill in SUNYAC action at 5:30 p.m.
