Canton, NY – Seventeen different players recorded a basket as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team set a single-game D-III era program record for made three-pointers with 18 as they cruised to a 112-66 victory against Paul Smith's in their season opener on Wednesday evening.
The 18 made three-pointers breaks the previous mark of 17 set twice – first against St. Lawrence on November 26, 2019, and once again on February 12, 2022 against SUNY Cobleskill. The 112 points scored are the most since the Roos put up 126 in a 126-114 win at Hunter on December 30, 2021.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead just five minutes into the contest and they extended the advantage to 20-1 seven minutes in. Canton had back-to-back dunks from Terrence Fields and Eli Larson and back-to-back treys from Brennan Harmer and Hansen Bagdonas during the spurt.
- The Canton lead ballooned to as many as 41 in the first half after a MJ Massey layup with 35 seconds left. Canton led 64-26 at intermission. Eight different Roos had first half three-pointers including a 4-for-6 mark from Ian Florence-Washington and 2-for-3 line from Brennan Harmer.
- The Roos lead expanded to as many as 54 as they emptied their bench in the second half en route to a convincing win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Florence-Washington and Fields tied a game-high with 15 points, while Fields added seven rebounds and Florence-Washington chipped in four rebounds. Both players had three assists each. Harmer and Kevin Goode Jr. tallied 11 points each with Harmer dishing out a game-best five assists. The duo combined for seven steals defensively.
- Jevonte Williams and Eli Larson supplied eight points each, Aaron Rodriguez added seven and Bryon Streb and Moe Biao added six points each. Overall, 19 players had at least six minutes of action for the Roos.
- Anthony Miller Jr. paced the Bobcats with 15 points, while Willie Jennings IV (12), Miguel Alejandro (11) and Michael Soto (11) also reached double figures.
- Canton shot 50% from the field and 47% from three-point range, while holding Paul Smith's to marks of 31% and 26%, respectively. Â
- The Roos dominated the glass 53-30 and held distinct advantages in bench points (66-13), points in the paint (46-20), fast break points (20-2) and points off turnovers (27-13).

The men's basketball team is back in action on Friday when it squares off with York (PA) in the Mike Daley Memorial Tournament hosted by Nazareth College at 6 p.m.
