Harmer Leads Four in Double Figures v. York

Rochester, NY – Brennan Harmer led four players in double figures but a strong second half carried York (PA) to a 92-68 win over the SUNY Canton men's basketball team in the opening game of the Mike Daley Memorial Tournament on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Play was extremely close early on with neither team leading by more than four points over the opening 10 minutes.
  • York extended its lead to as many as eight (34-26), but a 7-0 run got Canton within one with 5:08 left in the opening half. The Spartans closed the final 1:39 of the half on a 5-0 run to take a 45-37 lead into intermission.
  • York started the second half on an 12-0 run extended their lead to as many as 29 in the second half en route to the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Harmer led Roos with 14 points, four steals and three assists shooting 5-for-8 from the field and 3-for-4 from three-point range. Terrence Fields finished with 13 points, while Jevonte Williams and Kevin Goode Jr. supplied 11 points apiece. Bryon Streb and Eli Larson chipped in eight points apiece.
  • Jayden Rowe led York with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Jackson Mascari tallied 16 points and seven boards. Pat Gilhool finished with 12 points off the bench.
  • The Spartans held the upper hand in rebounds (46-29), points in the paint (50-28) and points off turnovers (32-15).
  • York shot nearly 51% from the field and 36% from three-point range, while Canton had marks of nearly 41% and 33%, respectively.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The men's basketball team returns for day two of the Mike Daley Memorial Tournament on Saturday when it squares off with the loser of the Nazareth-Buffalo State matchup in the consolation game at 1 p.m.
