HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos got on the board first just 1 minute, 39 seconds into the contest. Evan Pringle picked the puck up at his defensive blue line and skated into the offensive zone beating Potsdam goaltender John Werber blocker side with a shot from the top of the right circle.
  • The Bears knotted things at one at the 8:29 mark with the skater advantage. Jack Loran put home a loose puck into the open right side of net off a scrum out in front. Coleman Bennett and Jakub Hall picked up assists on the play.
  • Mason Hoehn would tack on another Potsdam power play goal less than two minutes later to give the Bears their first lead of the game. His shot from the top of the right circle hit the left post going bar down with Michael Campbell and Ryan Mahlmeister picking up helpers on the play.
  • The Roos tied things up once again at the 17:33 mark of the period as Niko Schoner gathered a loose puck in the defensive zone skating the length of the ice before going top shelf glove side to make it 2-2.
  • Potsdam held a slim 12-9 shots advantage in the opening period as the teams skated to first intermission tied.
  • Canton regained a one goal lead at 15:57 of the middle period. Jackson Drysdale won an offensive zone draw back to Schoner who played a quick pass to Sebastien Paquette at the point. The captain beat Werber through traffic for his first goal of the season.
  • The Roos held the upper hand in shots 17-11 in the second period taking the one goal lead after 40 minutes of play.
  • The Bears tied things up once again at 2:57 of the third when a pair of Roos got their skates tangled up and Max Klanow floated the puck high off the end boards as it deflected right to Josh Bifolchi at the left post as he made it 3-3. Andrew Gubbins also picked up an assist on the play.
  • Just over two minutes later Michael Olszewski picked off a pass at his defensive blue line skating in on the breakaway as he deked Kelson Hooper beating him high blocker side for the 4-3 lead.
  • Trailing by one the Roos pulled Hooper for the extra attacker with 1:14 remaining and that paid off 11 seconds later when Paquette scored his second of the night and third of his career. He beat the goaltender glove side from below the right circle as Schoner and Pringle were credited with assists on the play.
  • The teams would need overtime to decide the game and it took just 26 seconds of 3-on-3 action for the Roos to skate away with the win. Brendan Morrow found Schoner alone in the slot as he deked Werber and beat him five-hole for the win.
