Larson & Goode Jr. Score 16 Each v. Hawks

Canton, NY – Eli Larson and Kevin Goode Jr. scored 16 points each as the Roos rallied to get within six late, but a late run lifted visiting Hilbert College to a 77-66 win on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Canton jumped out to an early 10-5 lead just over three minutes in, but the Hawks responded with a 12-2 run to open a five point advantage midway through the half.
  • The Roos cut the lead to one on multiple occasions before taking a two point lead (26-24) after a Larson old-fashioned three point play.
  • Hilbert closed the half on an 11-5 run to take a 35-31 lead into intermission.
  • The visitors extended their lead to as many as 14 (59-45) midway through the second half, but Canton rallied to get within 64-58 after a Larson layup with 3:54 to play.
  • A pair of Hilbert free throws and three-pointer extended the lead to nine to seal the win for the Hawks.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Larson and Goode Jr. led the way with 16 points each, while Larson hauled down a team-high nine boards. Terrence Fields tallied 15 points and seven rebounds, while Jevonte Williams chipped in eight points. Brennan Harmer dished out a team-high five assists.
  • Shaheem Ellis led the Hawk attack with 18 points, while Jahmel Demery recorded a double-double of 15 points and 18 rebounds. Eric Jackson (15) and Edward Perez (10) also scored in double figures.
  • The Hawks shot 49% from the field but only 20% from three. Canton finished with marks of 34% and 21%.
  • Hilbert dominated the glass 51-33. The Roos turned the ball over only four times for the game while forcing 10 Hilbert turnovers. The Hawks bench outscored the Canton reserves 32-18.
