Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team received a balanced contribution from both its starters and the bench, however the team dropped a close contest to SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday night, 76-71.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams struggled offensively early on with the teams knotted at 12 apiece nearly halfway through the opening half.
- From there things picked up a bit as the teams were once again tied at 19 two minutes later. The Bears used a 14-2 lead to open a 33-21 lead with just over five minutes left in the half.
- Canton trailed by 14 (38-24) with 2:42 left in the half but closed the stanza on a 9-2 run to get within 40-33 at intermission. Â
- Both teams traded points early in the second half, before a layup by junior Eli Larson capped a 10-point Roo run, to put Canton up 52-51.
- The game remained tight through most of the second half, but Potsdam converted their chances from the free throw line down the stretch, going 8-8 and winning the game 76-71.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Larson led the Roos with 12 points, junior Jevonte Williams had 11 and freshman Bryon Streb scored10. Seniors Brennan Harmer and Terrence Fields each had eight.
- Larson, Williams and Harmer led the team in rebounds with five each.
- Canton had eight fast break points compared to two for Potsdam. The Roos also had the advantage in points off turnovers 15-8.

The men's basketball team returns home on Saturday when they host Hilbert College at 1 p.m. Â
