Clinton, NY – Freshman
Niko Schoner scored two goals and added an assist to lead the SUNY Canton men's hockey team in their game against Hamilton College on Saturday night. The Roos twice held the lead late but Hamilton would tie the game with their goaltender pulled and eventually win the game 5-4 in overtime.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period, the second saw a flurry of goals. James Philpott started the action at 4:55 of the period, putting Hamilton up 1-0.
- Luke Tchor added a power play goal for the Continentals just three minutes later.
- The Roos on the board 61 second later, when sophomore Reilly McKinnon hit Schoner with a stretch pass at the Hamilton blue line. Schoner fed a streaking Jack Seamans who beat Hamilton goaltender Jack Grant.
- Early in the third period, senior Nic Herringer tied the game, sweeping into the zone wide of the defense and lifting a shot over Grant's shoulder.
- Schoner added the Roos third goal, wristing a shot top shelf, popping the water bottle on the top of the net and putting the Roos on top 3-2. Freshman Jackson Drysdale earned the assist.
- Hamilton's Philpott scored again, just as a Continental power play expired, tying the game at three.
- Schoner scored his second of the night, going forehand, backhand and slipping it under a prone Grant to give the Roos a 4-3 lead. He was assisted by Jordan Prepszl and Brendan Morrow.
- With less than a minute to play, and their goaltender pulled for the extra attacker, Tchor tied the game, lifting a shot just over sophomore Kelson Hooper's shoulder to send the game to overtime.
- In the extra period, Willaim Neault made a nifty move to beat the defense and put the puck past a diving Hooper.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Hamilton was 1/4 on the power play while the Roos were 0/3.
- Hamilton had a slight edge at the faceoff dot winning 33 to Canton's 31.
- Schoner's two-goal, one assist night gives him three goals and five points on the season to lead the Roos in both categories.
- Hooper made 43 saves, Grant finished the night with 17.

SUNY Canton hosts Trine University next Saturday, November 25
th at 7:30 p.m. in the opening round of the North Country Tournament.
