Rutland, VT – The SUNY Canton men's hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision to Vermont State University at Castleton on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Castleton broke the scoreless tie at 9:15 of the first period when Josef Vyvial took a drop pass from Zach Papapetros and wristed a shot past a screened Kelson Hooper.
- The Spartans scored three goals in less than five minutes in the second period. At 10:38, Bryce Irwin buried a rebound off a shot from teammate Zack Whittaker.
- Just three minutes later Papapetros deflected a shot just outside the crease to put the puck past Hooper.
- Andrew Sefura closed out the scoring for the period ripping a shot over the blocker of Hooper to extend the lead to 4-0
- Papapetros and Jackson Edwards both scored third-period goals to give the Spartans the 6-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Castleton outshot the Roos 30-13 and dominated the faceoff dot winning 39 of 53 draws.
- The Roos were 0/4 on the powerplay and the Spartans were 2/3.
- Junior Colton Sipperley led the Roos with three shots on goal. Seniors Gino DeBlasiis and Nic Herringer both had two shots on goal.
- Hooper finished with 17 saves and freshman Trey Miller, who replaced Hooper in the second period, made seven. Castleton's Dominic Rodrigue was credited with 13 stops.
