Canton, NY -Â The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team celebrated their four seniors,
Kaylee Clark,
Bethanie Gratton,
Cadin Taggart and
Emily Dreyer in a pregame ceremony before a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matches on Sunday.
The Roos lost to SUNY Delhi 3-1 (23-25, 19-25, 25-10, 19-25) in the opener before dropping a 3-1 decision (25-23, 13-25, 13-25, 16-25) to SUNY Morrisville in the second match.

Match 1 –

- It was a back-and-forth battle in the start of the match, as the Roos tied the set 6-6 on a kill by freshman Hannah Lombardi. The Broncos rattled off nine straight points punctuated by a Finley Benn kill. Dreyer stopped the run with a kill but Delhi would take a 23-13 lead. The Roos showed resolve, narrowing the score to 24-23 on a kill by junior Alexas Marshall, but the Broncos ended up winning the set 25-23.
- In the second set, the Roos led early 10-8 on a kill by sophomore Brooke Hite. An eight-point run by Delhi saw them lead 19-14 before another Dreyer kill stopped the run. The teams traded points down the stretch to put the Broncos on top 25-19.
- Canton leaped out to a 4-0 lead capped by a Bria Hunter ace. The Roos pushed the lead to 10-3 and a Hite ace. After a mini-run by Delhi, a Clark kill gave Canton a 19-8 lead and they would go on to win the set 25-10.
- In the final set, Delhi led early but a Taggart ace closed the gap to 13-12. Another Dreyer kill kept the Roos close 17-16 but the Broncos scored eight of the next 11 to take the set 25-19 and the match 3-1

- In the first set, the Roos led 5-3 early on a Hite kill. An ace by Clark put Canton up 10-8. Morrisville pushed back, outscoring the Roos 11-2 and claiming a 19-12 lead. But the Roos responded, tying the set at 23 on a kill by sophomore Sammie Frank and winning the set 25-23 on a Clark ace.
- The Mustangs took an early 9-5 lead in the second set on a Keelin Baker kill. A Marshall kill kept the Roos close at 12-8 but a strong Morrisville run put them over the top 25-13.
- Morrisville ran out to a 6-1 lead early before a Taggart ace capped a Roo run and put the score 6-4. The teams traded points before the Mustangs strung together another run to lead 21-10 and ultimately closed out the set 25-13.
- In the final set, Morrisville led 9-4 early before Canton responded with a Dreyer kill and Hite ace to narrow the lead to 9-8. After a few back-and-forth points, the Mustangs ran off seven straight to take a 21-11 lead. The Roos got within 24-16 on a Lombardi kill but Morrisville took the set 25-16 and the match 3-1.

The Roos host SUNY Poly in a North Atlantic Conference matchup on October 18
th at 7:00 p.m. The match will be a "Pack the Stands" night and students are encouraged to attend to support the team and for a chance to win prizes.
