Canton, NY – Joie Culkin, a senior on the women's basketball team, and
Sam Martin, a senior on the men's hockey team, have been named this week's Roos of the Week.
Culkin averaged 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 assist per game shooting 18-for-35 from the field as the Roos split a pair of games. She opened the week with 14 points, and team-highs of eight rebounds and two steals shooting 6-for-13 from the field in a 70-59 loss to SUNY Potsdam. Culkin closed out the week with career and game-highs of 28 points shooting 12-for-22 from the field in an 82-74 road NAC win at NVU-Johnson on Saturday. She added team-highs of six rebounds and three steals to go with two assists.
Martin tallied a goal and assist including scoring the game-winner 2:52 into OT in a 3-2 win v. Brockport on Friday. Martin scored on a back-hander with just over 2 minutes left in OT. Early in the game he had the primary assist on a
Brendan McCormack goal that gave the Roos a 2-1 lead at the time.
