Dreyer Leads Roos to First Win of Season Against Paul Smith's

Canton, NY – Junior Emily Dreyer scored a career-high 16 kills in SUNY Canton's 3-0 victory over Paul Smith's College.  The win was the first of the season for the Roos.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
  • Despite a tight battle early on, the Roos pulled away, scoring 9 of the next 10 points to lead 21-11. SUNY Canton closed out the set on two consecutive kills each by Dreyer and junior Michaella DeCapua to win 25-12.
  • The Bobcats took an early lead in the second set 3-2. However, the Roos battled back to lead 16-6 on a service ace by Dreyer and went on to win the set 25-18.
  • After the Bobcats carried a 15-12 lead in the third set, the Roos responded scoring 13 of the next 17 points to win 25-19 and sweep the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Roos held a 40-25 advantage in kills with Dreyer's 16 leading the way.  Sophomore Alyssa Adams finished with six while DeCapua and sophomore Alexas Marshall both finished with five.
  • SUNY Canton also held a huge advantage in service aces 13-3.  Kaylee Clark's four were followed by DeCapua and junior Bethanie Gratton's tallies of three each.
  • DeCapua led the Roos with 16 assists, while Marissa Hawkins added nine. Defensively Clark and Gratton posted 10 digs each.
  • Madeleine Rhodes led the Bobcats with 10 kills and Alexandra Cherry recorded a team-high 13 digs.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos take on conference foes Cazenovia College and SUNY Poly on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively in the opening weekend of NAC Pool Play in Marcy, NY.
