Alfred, NY – Alyssa Adams led the Roos with seven kills however the team dropped its season-opener to SUNY Potsdam 3-0 on the opening evening of the Saxon Classic on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
·      The Roos were able to stay within striking distance early, trailing just 9-6 midway through the first set. However the Bears widened the gap and maintained a lead taking the first set 25-17.
·      The Roos jumped out to an early 16-8 lead in the second set before Potsdam rallied with eight straight points to close the gap to 17-16. The Roos maintained their lead and were up 20-18 on a kill by Emily Dreyer, however the Bears would rally to score the next seven points and take the set 25-20.
·      The third set remained tight halfway through with the Roos pulling to within one at 8-7. Potsdam again pulled away in the second half outscoring the Roos 16-9 down the stretch for the 25-16 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
·      Adams led the Roos with seven kills and Dreyer finished with five. Bailey Nadeau finished the day with 10 assists.
·      Kay Carlson paced the team with 11 digs while Kaylee Clark and Cadin Taggart tallied with eight each.
·      For the Bears, Sophia Rowny led the way with 12 kills and Mackenzie Fisher finished with 17 digs.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos will take on William Smith and host Alfred at 1 and 5 p.m., respectively, on the second day of the Saxon Classic on Saturday.
