Emily Dreyer led SUNY Canton with nine kills in a 3-1 loss to Medaille College on the opening night of the Oswego Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was a tight battle, with neither team extending the lead by more than four points. The Roos led most of the way and were one point away from closing out the set, but the Mavericks went on to score six of the final nine points to take the set 29-27.
- The second set was all Medaille early, as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead. The Roos drew within two points on a kill by Dreyer, trailing only 18-16. Medaille held on the rest of the way winning 25-21.
- The Mavericks led early in the third set, but the Roos took control late, leading 22-17 on a service ace by Michaella DeCapua. A Dreyer kill closed things out for the Roos 25-20.
- Medaille took a commanding 12-4 lead in the fourth set. The Roos battled back scoring seven straight points – including two on kills by Dreyer – to tie it up 17-17. However, it was not enough, as the Mavericks scored eight of the final 12 points to win 25-21 and take the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- In addition to Dreyer's nine kills, sophomore Alyssa Adams and junior Kaylee Clark both recorded seven kills. Adams was also credited with three service aces while Clark registered 21 digs.
- Freshman Kiley Zicari led the team with 25 digs and DeCapua paced the Roos with 13 assists.
- Halle Bogas led Medaille with 12 kills and 23 digs. Avery Ang tallied 10 digs and 20 assists.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos will play host Oswego State and Utica University at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, on the second day of the Oswego State Tournament.
