Emily Dreyer had an impressive day tallying a team-high 20 kills, but the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Pratt Institute and Wells College on the second day of the North Country Classic at the Roos House on Saturday.
Pratt won the opener 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) before the Express outlasted the Roos 3-2 (21-25, 25-17-25 -22, 15-25, 15-4) in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED

MATCH 1 - BOX SCORE
- All three sets were close in the opener as the Roos led 19-18 in the first set before the Cannoneers closed the first frame scoring the final seven points.
- The second stanza was back-and-forth with Canton leading 17-14 after a kill from Sarah Balcom. Once again, Pratt used a late run scoring eight straight points to lead 22-17. The Roos responded with four consecutive points of their own to get within one (22-21) before Pratt scored three of the final four points.
- Canton opened a 13-7 lead in the third set behind a strong service game from Cassidy Werner. The Roos scored nine consecutive points, eight of which came off Werner serves. The hosts led 17-11 before Pratt battled back to earn the sweep as they scored eight of the final 10 points.
- Dryer led the Roos with eight kills, while Balcom and Cadin Taggart had five each. Kaylee Clark supplied team-highs of 14 digs and three aces and Michaella Decapua dished out 13 assists.
- Emily Sontag (9), Olivia Julich (8) and Anna Knoblach (7) led a balanced Pratt attack combining for 24 kills.

MATCH 2 - BOX SCORE
- Wells jumped out to a 17-10 lead in the opening set, but Canton stormed back scoring 14 of the next 15 points to lead 24-18. Dreyer would close out the first set with a kill from Bailey Nadeau.
- The Express led 20-14 in the second set and used three straight points to close out the set.
- Canton led 14-11 in the second set, but some timely scoring from the visitors allowed them to take five of the final eight points for a 25-22 win.
- After trailing 11-9 early it was the Roos who controlled the latter half of the fourth frame scoring 16 of the final 20 points in a convincing win to force a decisive fifth set.
- The Express cruised out to a 9-2 lead in the fifth earning a 15-4 win.
- Dryer and Alyssa Adams finished with 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while Victoria Norton provided a big spark off the bench with eight kills. Clark finished with a match-best 23 digs to go with four aces.
- Nadeau dished out 25 assists to go with a team-high five aces. DeCapua tallied 10 assists and Balcom had 11 digs. Taggart had a big match at net posting six block assists.
- Miah Williamson supplied a match-best 16 kills for Wells, while Lexi Carfi pinpointed a match-high eight aces.

The Roos are back in action next weekend when they open the Oswego State Tournament against Medaille College on Friday at 5 p.m.
