Canton, NY – Mackenzie Currie and
Sophia Harris both went 3-for-4 with Currie driving in four runs as the SUNY Canton softball team split a pair of road games at Cazenovia and SUNY Poly on Sunday.
The Roos fell 15-2 in the opener but earned a 7-4 win in the nightcap to secure a playoff berth. Postseason seeds and matchups will be released on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cazenovia bats pounded out 15 runs and 11 hits in the opener. The Wildcats jumped out to an 8-2 lead after three innings with four runs each in the second and third innings and added seven in the fourth.
- The Roos scored twice in the third on a Jordan Knapp RBI single to score Harris and a Kayla Chavarri sacrifice fly to plate Madison Austin.
- Austin led the Roos going 3-for-3, while Chavarri was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
- Olivia Simone led the Wildcats going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI.
- Serafina French earned the win on the mound allowing two runs with four strike outs and a walk in five innings.
- Chavarri took the loss giving up six earned runs in two innings with three strike outs and two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos bounced back with 10 hits and seven runs in the nightcap. Canton scored twice in the third inning on a pair of Austin and Currie RBI singles. The visitors added three more in the fifth. Currie singled home Tasli, Knapp scored Harris on a base hit and Gundersen scored Currie on a fielder's choice.
- The Roos extended their lead to 7-0 after their at-bats in the sixth with a pair of runs. Currie doubled home Harris and Tasli.
- Poly added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh but the Roos earned the win.
- Currie went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, while Harris was 3-for-4 with three runs. Austin, Knapp and Gundersen all had a hit and RBI each.
- Beane earned the win on the mound throwing a complete game with seven strike outs and two walks.
- Caitlin Reilly took the loss allowing five runs with five strike outs and two walks in 4.1 innings.
