Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton baseball team closed out its 2022 regular season with a doubleheader v. Plattsburgh State on Senior Day on Sunday. The Cardinals swept the doubleheader by scores of 11-5 and 12-6.

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- Plattsburgh jumped out to a 5-2 lead after two innings and scored six runs in the fourth and fifth innings to open a 11-2 advantage after five innings.
- Garcia singled home two runs in the bottom of the first to get the Roos on the board.
- Canton tacked on three runs in the sixth. Nathan Welch walked in Kapfer and Rodriguez doubled home Mather and Garcia.
- Mather, Garcia and Rodriguez recorded a hit each in the opener with Garcia and Rodriguez driving in two runs each.
- Joey Dirocco led the Cardinals with three hits, while Nolan De Melfi drove in four runs. Both players homered for the visitors.
- Ryan Nista earned the win on the mound tossing five innings without allowing an earned run. He struck out eight batters and walked one.
- Lucey took the loss giving up three earned runs in three innings with five walks.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- Plattsburgh jumped out to a 4-1 lead after an inning in the nightcap and added two runs in the fifth and three each in the seventh and eighth.
- The Roos scored one run each in the first and second and two each in the fifth and eighth.
- Eight different players had a hit in the nightcap for Canto with Miner and Frank Nieto driving in two each. Nieto had a home run and Bougor and Nick Shoemaker doubled, while Mather tripled.
- Alex Komblau went 4-for-6 with 2 RBI for Plattsburgh, while Michael Ascanio drove in three runs on a double and home run.
- Kolby Mordecki earned the win for Plattsburgh allowing four runs with four strike outs and two walks in five innings.
- Miner took the loss giving up three earned runs with seven strike outs and five walks in 4.2 innings.
