Olsen Breaks Single-Game Points & Assists Mark in Road Win at MCLA

North Adams, MA – Senior Hunter Olsen continued his impressive senior season posting single-game NCAA D-III era program records of 14 points and eight assists as the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team earned a 23-5 road win at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday.

With his six goals and eight assists on Saturday Olsen surpassed his previous career-high and program mark of 13 points at SUNY Cobleskill on April 17, 2021. He also broke his own single-game assists mark of seven from last season v. SUNY Cobleskill on April 17, 2021. Kyle Smith also accomplished the feat v. SUNY Delhi with seven on April 15, 2018.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos scored the first five goals of the game and jumped out to an 8-1 lead after the opening quarter.
  • The team continued to fire on all cylinders as they outscored the Trailblazers 5-1 in the second quarter to lead 13-2 after 30 minutes. Seven different players scored in the opening half for the Roos.
  • SUNY Canton continued to show balance offensively outscoring MCLA 10-3 after halftime en route to the convincing conference win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Olsen led all players in points (14), goals (6) and assists (8) while adding four ground balls. Alex Jacobs also scored six times and picked up eight ground balls and caused a game-high three turnovers.
  • Noah Rboinson finished with three goals and two assists, while Caeden Goodnough and Logan McCargar supplied two goals each. Carter Pooler, Kyle Fingar, Zack LaFave and Carter Moore scored once each.
  • Nathan Haley led the Trailblazers with a goal and assist each.
  • Sam Servati made 15 saves on just 20 shots in the win. Boden Dock stopped 19 shots in the loss.

The Roos return home for a midweek conference matchup v. SUNY Poly on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
