Canton, NY – Kayla Chavarri and
Jordan Knapp pounded out four hits each on the day but the SUNY Canton softball team dropped a doubleheader to SUNY Cobleskill by scores of 7-3 and 8-5 on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- Cobleskill jumped out to a 3-0 lead after five hits in the opening inning and added four in the fifth to lead 7-0 after five innings.
- The Roos rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Jordan Knapp singled home a pair of runs scoring Sophia Harris and Mackenzie Currie. Alexandria Mikula brought across Sophia Padilla-Gundersen on a ground out.
- Canton went down in order in the seventh as the rally came up short.
- Knapp went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Kayla Chavarri was also 2-for-3. Harris and Alaina Beane had one hit each.
- Jillian Nitchman led the Tigers going 3-for-4 with two runs and 4 RBI.
- Victoria Decker picked up the win for Cobeslkill throwing a complete game allowing three runs with five strike outs and a walk.
- Chavarri took the loss for the Roos surrendering seven runs with three strike outs and a pair of walks.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead after their at-bats in the fifth of the nightcap.
- The Roos responded with two runs in the fifth on a pair of Selena Tasli and Angelina LoPiccolo RBI singles.
- The Canton bats came alive in the seventh scoring three runs. Harris singled home LoPiccolo, Currie scored Madison Austin on an RBI single and Knapp brought home Harris.
- The Roos brought the game-winning run to the plate with the bases loaded but a foul out ended the Canton rally.
- Harris, Knapp and Chavarri all had two hits each with Harris, Knapp, LoPiccolo, Currie and Tasli driving in runs.
- Emma Duarte led Cobleskill going 3-for-4, while Alyssa Villielm, Nitchman and Abigail Scheurich all had two hits each. Nitchman and Maya Davies homered for the Tigers.
- Marissa Wheeler earned her second win in as many days on the mound for Cobleskill allowing five runs with six strike outs and six walks in the complete game effort.
- Beane took the loss giving up four earned runs with a strike outs and three walks in seven innings.

The softball team is back in action on Tuesday when they visit SUNY Potsdam for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
