Dayter Sets Three Program Records as Roos Remain Perfect in NAC Play with Road Win at Cazenovia

Sets Single-Season Points & Assists Records, Single-Game Assists Mark

Cazenovia, NY – Junior Samantha Dayter continued to break SUNY Canton women's lacrosse milestones as she set the single-season points and assists records and single-game assists mark as the Roos doubled up Cazenovia 20-10 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Wednesday.

The Roos remain perfect at 5-0 in league play, while handing the Wildcats their first conference loss (3-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cazenovia got on the board first 59 seconds in but the Roos scored seven of the next nine goals to open up a 7-3 lead after Maddy Caron's third goal of the game 3:07 into the second quarter.
  • The Roos led 5-3 after the first quarter and took a 10-5 lead into intermission scoring the final three goals of the first half as Dayter had two assists and a goal during the spurt.
  • Canton dominated the third quarter outscoring Cazenovia 6-1. The Roos scored the first three goals of the quarter including one man-down off the stick of Casey Pelton. The visitors led 16-6 after three quarters.
  • The Wildcats scored four of the first five goals in the fourth quarter before the Roos responded with the final three including two from EllaRose LeMay.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Dayter led all players with 11 points and nine assists to go with two goals and three ground balls. Caron tallied a game and career-high seven goals to go with an assist and game-best nine draw controls.
  • LeMay recorded a career-high six points and tied her career-high with four goals to go with three ground balls. Pelton tied her career-high with three goals and Lindsey Wunder added a pair of scores. Hannah Reed and Stephanie Thayer finished with a goal each.
  • Sydney Allan led Cazenovia with four goals, while Angela Nuzzo and Harley Eldridge had two goals apiece.
  • Madison Leary made four saves in the win, while Amanda Drazek turned aside eight shots in defeat.
 
DAYTER'S MILESTONES
  • Dayter continues to break NCAA D-III era program marks as she eclipsed the previous single-season point (90) and assists (33) marks, both of which were held by current assistant coach Molly Denny '20. Dayter also eclipsed her own single-game assist mark (8). She now has 92 points and 36 assists for the 2022 season. She also broke her own record with eight assists in a single game.
  • Dayter already set the single-game points (14) and assists (8) marks on April 10th v. Maine Maritime. She also broke the single-season draw controls record (68) earlier this season, which was previously set by Jessica Pele '19. Dayter has 88 draw controls and counting this season.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are back in action on Saturday when they visit Thomas College at 11 a.m. Please note the start time has been moved up two hours as it was originally scheduled for 1 p.m.
