Waterville, ME – The SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team used a balanced offense effort that saw
Samantha Dayter,
Stephanie Thayer and
Maddy Caron all tally six or more points in a 22-9 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win at Thomas College on Saturday.
With one game left in the NAC regular season the Roos have locked up the No. 1 seed and hosting rights in the upcoming playoffs to be hosted next weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter behind a pair of goals from Caron and one each from EllaRose LeMay and Thayer.
- Canton would extend its lead to 9-4 at intermission with Dayter scoring a free-position goal with less than a minute remaining.
- The visitors continued to dominated the scoreboard in the second half outscoring the Terriers 13-5 for the 22-9 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dayter led all players with nine points and seven assists, while adding eight draw controls. Thayer tallied a game-best six goals to go with an assist and Caron finished with five goals, one assists and a game-high 14 draw controls.
- Karlie McCarthy and LeMay chipped in three goals each, while Casey Pelton supplied two goals and an assist. Maddy Weir picked up a game-high four ground balls.
- Madison Leary made five saves in the first half while allowing just four goals for her eighth win of the season. Erin Anderson turned aside two shots in the second half.
- Mary LaRochelle led Thomas with four goals and two assists, while Lizzy Gotay made 17 saves in the loss.
- The Roos controlled shots on goal (39-16), draw controls (25-9) and ground balls (13-10). Canton went 11-for-14 on clears, while the Terriers were 9-for-20.

The Roos are back in action on Sunday when they visit Maine Farmington at 12 p.m.
