Olsen & LaFave Lead Roos in NAC Win at Thomas

Waterville, ME – Hunter Olsen and Zack LaFave combined for 10 goals and the Roos outscored Thomas 7-1 in the fourth quarter to earn a 14-6 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • LaFave and Olsen got the Roos off to an early 2-0 lead with goals a minute apart as Canton led a low scoring first quarter 2-1 after 15 minutes.
  • Olsen netted three second quarter goals and LaFave had the other as the Roos took a 6-4 lead into intermission.
  • Each team only scored one goal in the third quarter with Canton's coming man-up from Olsen.
  • The Roos dominated the fourth quarter outscoring the Terriers 7-1. Six different players scored for Canton in Austin Mesler, Caeden Goodnough, Rory McCabe, Kyle Fingar, LaFave and Olsen.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Olsen led all players with six goals, while LaFave added four and each player picked up four ground balls. Mesler finished with a goal and two assists and Goodnough added a goal and assist.
  • McCabe and Fingar supplied one goal each. Carter Pooler and Tanner Amell tied a game-high with five ground balls apiece and Logan McCargar forced two turnovers.
  • Daniel MacWhinnie led the Terriers with two goals and an assist and Matthew Crisco dished out a pair of assists.
  • Sam Servati made 11 saves in his sixth win of the season for the Roos, while Patrick Buxton made 12 stops for Thomas.
  • The Roos held a 26-17 shots on goal advantage, while Thomas had the edge in face offs, 14-10.
