Dayter & Caron Lead Roos to Third Straight Win at Medaille

Buffalo, NY – Samantha Dayter and Maddy Caron combined for 12 goals and three assists as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team completed a 3-0 week with a 17-11 road win at Medaille College on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos stormed out to a 7-0 lead 8:25 into the game as Dayter scored four of the team's first seven goals. EllaRose LeMay, Hannah Reed and Caron supplied the other scores.
  • Medaille got on the board with 5:19 left in the opening quarter and added another with 28 seconds to go. Canton led 7-2 after one.
  • Canton outscored Medaille 5-4 in the second quarter with Caron netting three goals in the quarter. The visitors led 12-6 at intermission.
  • The Roos scored the first three goals of the third quarter with two from Dayter and the other from Lindsey Wunder to all but put away the game leading 15-6. Medaille tallied five of the next seven goals leading to the 17-11 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Dayter led all players with 11 points adding game-highs of eight goals and three caused turnovers while recording a team-best six draw controls. Caron finished with four goals and Karlie McCarthy added two scores.
  • Wunder, LeMay and Reed tallied one goal each. Maddy Weir led the team defensively with three caused turnovers and five ground balls. Madison Leary earned the win making five saves in the first half. Erin Anderson stopped three shots in the second half.
  • Katelynn Deveans paced the Mavericks with five goals, while Cameron Briggs, Irelyne Tarbell and Sara Geiser finished with two goals and an assist each.
  • Tatiana Wright made 13 saves in the loss for Medaille.
  • The Roos held a 30-19 shots on goal advantage, while draw controls were even at 16 apiece.
     
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos return home on Thursday when they host Clarkson at 4 p.m.
