Canton, NY – Hunter Olsen and 
Alex Jacobs combined for 10 goals and seven assists and 
Sam Servati made 18 saves to lead the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team to a 19-14 win v. Castleton in the Roos home opener on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Trent Dow got the scoring started just 80 seconds in but Castleton responded with three straight goals and a span of five of six scores to open a 5-2 advantage late in the first quarter.
- Austin Mesler scored his first goal of the season with 36 seconds left in the opening quarter and Caeden Goodnough tallied a pair of man-up goals to draw the Roos even at five apiece 3:39 into the second quarter.
- The Spartans regained the lead momentarily, but Jacobs responded with a pair of man-advantage goals and Goodnough added his third goal of the game as Canton led 8-6. The Roos took a 9-8 lead into intermission.
- Jacobs recorded the first two goals of the second half to open up an 11-8 lead and after Castleton got within two the Roos scored four straight to open up a 15-9 lead an all but seal the win.
- The Roos tallied three more consecutive goals to end the third and start the fourth quarter opening up their largest advantage of the game at 19-11.
- The Spartans added three late goals for the 19-14 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
	- Olsen led the Roos with four goals and game-highs of 10 points, six assists and 10 ground balls. Jacobs posted a game-best six goals to go with an assist and four ground balls. Austin Mesler tallied five points on two goals and three assists to go with five ground balls.
- Goodnough had three goals and eight ground balls, while Noah Robinson finished with a goal, an assist and five ground balls. Dow chipped in two goals, Kyle Fingar added two assists and Logan McGargar also scored.
- Sean Kimura led Castleton with a goal and three assists, while Chris LaBonte (3), Casey Meczywor (2) and Hunter Sarro (2) had multiple goals for the Spartans.
- Servati finished with 18 saves in his first collegiate win, while Chris Wilk made 25 saves in the loss for Castleton.
- The Roos controlled shots (68-55), shots on goal (44-32) and face offs (21-14). Canton went 5-for-8 with the extra man, while Castleton was 0-for-2.

The Roos are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Wells College at 4 p.m.
