Canton, NY – Kayla Chavarri recorded three hits on the day but the SUNY Canton softball team dropped a doubleheader at St. Lawrence by scores of 8-0 and 7-3 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE

• The Saints struck for 14 hits scoring three runs each in the first and fourth innings and one run each in the second and fifth innings to earn an 8-0 run-rule win in the opener.
• Chavarri, Sophia Harris, Angelina LoPiccolo, Mackenzie Currie and Jordan Knapp finished with one hit each for the Roos.
• Gabby Slater earned the win for St. Lawrence striking out eight with two walks in the complete game effort.
• Chavarri took the loss allowing eight runs with five strike outs and one walk in 4.1 innings.

 
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE

• St. Lawrence posted one run in the first and three in the third and fifth innings of the nightcap.
• The Roos got on the board with a pair of runs on a Knapp RBI double in the fourth and a Chavarri RBI single in the sixth.
• Chavarri paced the Roos with two hits in Game 2.
• Jacee Casebolt picked up the win for the Saints allowing two runs with three strike outs and four walks in 5.1 innings.
• Alaina Beane took the loss allowing three earned runs with five strike outs in six innings.

 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The softball team is scheduled to return to action with a home-opening doubleheader on Wednesday v. Alfred State at 3 p.m.
